Okay, here we go: I'm from Spokane, WA, born and raised, one of 7 children. If this were a job application, I would check the box that says High School Graduate, Some College. Moved to Seattle in 1981 to take a job at KISW, (remember when they were good?) Stayed at KISW for 21 years and was rewarded with an escorted exit through the back door with written instructions never to return. To show my undying gratitude, the next day, I took my KISW staff jacket and gave it to a homeless person. Do I sound bitter?? What are you??...a psych major?? I got into radio for the same reason everyone else did, and anyone who says different is lying. Laziness. I want to get paid for doing nothing, and so far I’ve gotten away with it for about 25 years. It’s the best job ever and I hope I can continue for many more years. The best part about working for KZOK is that its part modern and part retro. Most stations are just computerized juke boxes…This station has an air staff that actually makes choices on music…Sounds crazy, but that makes KZOK the last of a dying breed…you know…good! As far as favorites, when I’m not tuned into KZOK, I load up my 5 disc player at home with everything from Johnny Cash to Metallica to Frank Sinatra and push the shuffle button. Throw in some Buck Owens and Radiohead and it’s a party waiting to happen.
