KZOK - Who Are You? - Mike Loy from Milan, Italy

Mike Loy from Milan, Italy
Who am I? That's a confusing question at times... Well, my name is Mike Loy and I was born in Wichita, KS on December 30th 1966. My father worked for Boeing at the time and when I was one or so we transferred to the Seattle area.
Until middle school we lived in the small town of Carbonado up near Mt. Rainer. Great place to grow up but not much to do when your a bit older. We then moved down to Tacoma where I went to Hunt junior high and the on to Wilson high where I received my diploma in 1985. During this time I always enjoyed listening to KZOK and all the good Rock music they would put on the air.
After high school I joined the Coast Guard and my first place of duty was down in Long Beach California. I had a good time but after awhile I felt a need to move and requested to be sent overseas. I was then sent to Lampedusa Italy, a small Island closer to Libia than it is to Sicily. I met my wife there and my life changed completely after that.
I continued with my military service until 1995 going to The Calabrian region of southern Italy and then on to San Francisco. When it came time to decide to stay or go... I decided to go. I not only went, but went far. We, My wife, our son, and myself came back to Italy to live. We Live outside of Milan in the north of Italy where I work as a Production supervisor.
A little less than a year ago I hooked up to the internet via ADSL and started to surf to see what was out there. I was curious to see if KZOK was still pumping out good rock and did a Google search. I was happy to find out that KZOK not only is still pumping but that they are still pumping the music I always listened to when I lived back in Tacoma. During the holidays It made it almost feel like I was back in the states. It feels as if I am still in contact with a part of my life I had started to almost forget. I listen to KZOK at least once a day when I sit at the computer writing e-mails to friends and family.
Thanks for the good times and looking forward to listening long into the future. |
