Sarah's Beer of the Week 11.15.18

For my  beer blog this week I am featuring a beer from Bud.  Yup, good ol' Budweiser.  It's true.  I saw a commercial on TV for this beer and couldn't help but go buy some.  I was very curious and sampling it for myself was the only way to satisfy my curiosity.  Budweiser Copper Lager.  The collaboration between Bud and Jim Beam.  The lager is aged on Jim Beam bourbon barrel staves.  I think the result may surprise you.  This is a pretty darned good, highly drinkable beer.  It's not a flavor bomb, like some of the other bourbon barrel aged beers you may have tried.  It's more subtle.  You don't feel like you're doing a version of a Jager bomb, or a sake bomb but with Jim Beam.  Instead, you're getting subtle notes of vanilla, and oak, and some complex characteristics of the bourbon.  With a pleasant beer.  Many of the aged in bourbon barrel beers that I've tried are big in ABV.  Heavy filling beers.  This is much easier to drink, and 6% ABV.  You won't feel full after, or feel like you just drank a meal.  IN fact, you might want to crack open another.  Yup, it's true, this is a very solid offering from Bud.  And the price is right.  Very affordable brew.  Don't knock it til you try it.
