Sarah's Beer of the Week 02.15.18

Many moons ago, I went to college and grad school in Hartford, Connecticut.  The beer scene wasn't much back then, nor was my palate.  I drank Miller Lite.  Getting a flavorful beer meant Sam Adams or Bass.  Thankfully, the craft beer movement has come a long way since then.  An old friend my 'my Hartford days' sent me one of his favorites from CT.  I realized that I have never had a craft beer made in CT!  Jay sent a New England Style IPA called Two Juicy.  This is an unfiltered double IPA made by Two Roads Brewing Co.  NE style IPA is starting to get very popular, even out West.  It's hazy, cloudy, and tends to be juicier vs bitter.  It has a creamier mouthfeel than a West Coast IPA.  There is a lot going on with Two Juicy, all of it good.  Packed with flavor, it's smooth and satisfying.  Grapefruit and pine come through.  It's not bitter.  It's utterly delightful to drink.  The good news is, I loved this beer.  The bad news is, it's not available out here...yet.  In the meantime, keep an eye out for NE Style IPA.  Reuben's Brews, Urban Family, Skookum Brewery.  Yum!
